I’ve been making my own tooth cleaning powder for years now, and I’ll tell you the truth — once you get used to it, it’s hard to go back to squeezing goop out of a plastic tube. There’s something satisfying about knowing exactly what you’re putting in your mouth, and about not tossing another empty tube in the trash every few months.
This is my own recipe, the one I actually use, not something I pieced together from a dozen different websites. Inside this download you’ll get the exact measurements, the equipment you need, step-by-step directions, and a plain explanation of what each ingredient is actually doing — Bentonite Clay, Kaolin Clay, Calcium Carbonate, ground cloves, and peppermint extract, with Myrrh Gum Powder as an optional add-in if you want it. I’ve also included substitution notes for when you’re out of something, how to store your finished powder (a clean, dry glass Mason jar does the trick), my own six-month discard guideline, safety notes, and a little Goat Lady tip I’ve picked up from making this more times than I can count.
I love how clean my teeth feel and how fresh my mouth feels after I use this — that part’s just my own experience talking. What I won’t do is tell you it whitens, remineralizes, fights cavities or gum disease, or does anything I can’t back up. This is a homesteading recipe born out of wanting to make more of what my family uses ourselves, not a dental treatment.
A few things to know before you buy: this is a digital PDF download only — no physical product ships. It’s meant for educational and personal use, and it hasn’t been professionally tested for dental efficacy, stability, or microbial growth. It contains no fluoride and isn’t meant to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent cavities, gum disease, or any other condition — it doesn’t replace your dentist or regular dental care. The recipe and PDF are for your personal use and shouldn’t be reproduced, redistributed, published, or resold without permission.
If you’ve been wanting to try making something like this yourself instead of just wondering how, download the recipe and give it a go. I think you’ll like knowing exactly what’s in that Mason jar on your counter.
